Well, just when you thought that the world couldn't get any wackier, it did. Politics. Weather. The economy. It seems like someone opened the crazy tap and it's hard to look away.
This too, shall pass. It always does.
My world is pretty good at the moment. I've been busy with work so the rent is paid and I can continue to make music. I continue to resist the purchase of another guitar, although there is a sweet J45 available at my local Long and McQuade. I need to choose. Record and release more music? Or buy another guitar? I'm choosing to save up to record another project. Besides, I have some beautiful instruments so the phrase “need a new guitar” doesn't really apply at the moment.
Speaking of instruments, my trusty old Martin D18 finally got the neck reset it needed to play well for the next 25 years of her life. Nicole Alosinac did the work and I couldn't be happier. She's named Roslyn and she is playing like a dream now. And what a voice. It is a wonderful guitar. I used it on God Hates a Quitter, which you can listen to on the site now.
I recorded God Hates a Quitter for a project called Bez Kept Secrets. The Bez Arts Hub is the place I go to on Thursday nights to test drive my new songs. A beautiful community of songwriters has grown at this venue. We recorded 13 original songs by 13 different artists to release on a CD.
We also invited a group of visual artists to create a work based on the lyrics of each song. Each of these paintings was photographed for inclusion in a coffee table book. The CD is included in the book. The works are remarkable.
All of this will be celebrated on May 9 when we will play two shows to promote the book and to promote the art which is available through a silent auction.
The project is fundraiser for the Bez. The Bez celebrates 10 years this year! We are quite fond of our community which expresses itself on Thursdays in this beautiful venue.
There are two shows, a matinee at 2 pm and an evening show at 7 pm. There will be a killer house band and Tom and Kalissa Landa from The Paperboys will provide a featured headline set.
